A 28-year-old Las Vegas woman, Ahmonique Miller, has died just hours after undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure in Miami.
Miller had travelled from Las Vegas to Florida on March 5 alongside her sister, Kiera Barnes, with plans to get cosmetic enhancements at Avana Plastic Surgery. On March 7, she had a BBL and liposuction.
Later that day, she was taken to a surgical recovery center known as Keyla’s Recovery House, where she stayed with her sister. The facility has now been identified as unlicensed.
According to reports, Miller was allegedly given unprescribed medication after the procedure.
She was put to bed between 12 noon and 1 p.m., but concern grew later that night when she hadn’t woken up.
Around 9:30 p.m., staff members checked on her and found her unresponsive. Emergency services were contacted, but she was confirmed dead by 10:26 p.m.
By the time police arrived, Miller was found heavily bandaged, lying face down, and already exhibiting signs of rigor mortis.
An autopsy later confirmed her cause of death as acute combined drug toxicity.
