A video of a Lapo baby trying salad for the first time at an event has sparked a wave of hilarious reactions online.

Note that a “Nepo baby” refers to a child who benefits from nepotism—meaning they are given opportunities or favored because their parents are already successful or influential in a particular field. Examples include the children of celebrities or business moguls who have had the path paved for them.
On the other hand, a “Lapo baby” refers to a child from a struggling background. The term is derived from LAPO, a microfinance bank known for offering loans to low-income individuals. So, a “Lapo baby” symbolizes a child from a financially challenged family that may need external support to get by.
In a new clip shared on the official Instagram page of Kraks TV, a boy clearly fitting the “Lapo baby” label was served a plate loaded with jollof rice, fried rice, moi-moi, meat, and salad.
While he eagerly devoured everything else, he struggled with just one spoonful of salad, confirming his status as a true Lapo baby.
After taking a bite, he quickly spat it out and said, “Nje,” meaning “I can’t eat it,” as the salad was poured back inside the plate while he continued eating.
