
Former military leader Ibrahim Babangida, also known as IBB, has started sparking controversy online following a new video of him that surfaced online.
In the new clip that hits the internet, Ibrahim Babangida was confined to a wheelchair as he maintained a stationary, a development that sparks reactions online most especially from those that is unaware of his state.
For knowledge’s sake, Ibrahim Babaginda promised to return Nigeria to democratic rule, and eventually organized what was considered the freest and fairest election in Nigeria’s history — the June 12, 1993 presidential election, presumably won by Moshood Abiola.
However, he annulled the results, sparking a national crisis and massive backlash. This single act defined much of his legacy and made him a controversial and unforgettable figure in Nigerian politics.
Menawhile, while launching his book in February 2025, Ibrahim Babaginda, who is 83-year-old makes a U-Turn after 32years, stressing that MKO Abiola won the June 12 election and by extension tenders public apology to all and sundry.
the now viral clip, Niger state Governor Umar Bago’s brother, Gambo Abubakar was spotted with former military leader Ibrahim Babangida who was bounded to wheel chair.
As expected, the clip generated mixed reactions among online users with many saying that life is vanity upon vanity, telling present leaders to check the present state of the former military leader Ibrahim Babangida.
One person said; “All this Akpabio and Wike should learn from this video.”
Another commented; “Same powerful person on the wheelchair stay humble.”
j.a.r.m.a commented; “Him being on a wheel chair is as a result of old age not Karma …. People even pray to live this long to see their great grandchildren which he is so privileged to see them and be part of their lives….so if you’re trying to fill pity for him save it he is fine and has built his legacy ✌🏽.”
