Popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has taken to social media to throw shade at his colleagues Wizkid, Burna Boy, and others who used to compare their money to that of him and the Adeleke family at large.
Dr Adedeji Adeleke, the father of Davido, is set to make history as he is about to commission a 1,250MW Power Plant in Ondo State, Nigeria.
According to Nairametrics, the billionaire businessman completed one of Nigeria’s biggest private power projects. The 1,250MW plant is ready and awaiting gas grid connection.
Clearly, the development is a major step forward for Nigeria’s energy supply and, by extension, shows that Davido’s dad is worth a billion dollars.
Reacting, Davido confirms the post on Nairametrics’ Instagram page today, July 21st, 2025, and reposts it on his Instagram stories, and that was just the beginning.
After reposting it on his page to show his father’s contribution to the country at large, Davido decided to hit the nerves of naysayers as he brags about the generational wealth in his family.
He subtly mocks the likes of Wizkid, Burna Boy, and others who claim to have money than him as he accompanied the reposted content with the caption “Dey Play.”

Reactions as Davido’s dad owns Nigeria largest power plant
izeglobal : This actually crazy . Even 10megatt watt heavy talkless of 1250mw … I tap from this grace.
djfalone : He sells power in the United States as well . He has stated that he currently supplies 14% of Nigeria’s electricity supply .
official_ose007 : Nigeria go get stable electricity nah just time e go take… the pace maybe slow but we will get there.
abiodun1960 : Wow . … this project was not allowed to come into life until this administration took over.
inner.arkhitect : This is great, but it’s not only about power generation. The real issue is in the transmission of the electricity. That’s what needs a re-vamp or private investors. We can generate power but can it consistently reach the dico’s? Or the people?
baronkingsley : Pls what is delaying the grid connection biko. The FG should immediately ask him if he wouldn’t mind to sell a stake to the FG. Even if it is 10% let them put Nigerias money in it even if it is to give the man confidence.
