Popular media personality Toke Makinwa has advised individuals not to compromise their relationship standards, reminding them that the world is full of potential partners.

Speaking on a recent episode of her podcast, Makinwa encouraged people to seek relationships that align with their values and desires rather than giving in to societal expectations or criticism.

She addressed the growing trend of shaming people especially women for having preferences, particularly regarding financial stability in relationships. According to Makinwa, everyone is entitled to their own expectations, and those who don’t agree should simply walk away without judgment.

“There’s no need to attack someone for wanting more,” she stated. “If their standard doesn’t suit you, keep it moving. There are billions of people in the world.”

She also condemned the culture of online bashing over personal choices in love and dating, suggesting that such negativity often comes from a place of insecurity.

Makinwa said: “Don’t need to lower your standards. Honestly, if this, listen, there are over a billion people in this world, right? You can go and find somebody who has what you’re looking for. Stop letting society dictate.

“If you say, oh, this girl is a money-hungry b!tch. All she wants is a man to pay her bills. If you can’t pay her bills, leave.

“There’s another guy who does what he’s looking for. I feel like we make things harder than it is with fighting online and our opinions, and trying to shout on top of each other. If somebody is not what you’re looking for, cease the urge to start trying to pinpoint what is wrong with them, because it’s actually a reflection of you and not them.

“That’s what they want out of their lives. After all, there are people who wake up in the morning and believe that, you know what, I’m the best thing since sliced bread. I’m Queen Diana. And if they believe it and they think it and they’re walking, it’s who are you to come and tell them that they are not?”
