A Nigerian man, who identified himself as Saliu Maja — once a wealthy automobile dealer famously praised in songs by Fuji legend King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, professionally known as K1 De Ultimate, has stirred emotions with his moving grace-to-grass story.
In a video shared by content creator Charismatic Oba, Maja recounted how he once enjoyed immense wealth but ignored his father’s advice to invest in real estate.
He revealed that he later travelled to Canada with a friend who got entangled in shady dealings, resulting in both of them being deported back to Nigeria in 1996.
He recounted how he once tried to meet KWAM 1 at the singer’s 40th birthday celebration but couldn’t get the chance.
Saliu revealed that he now survives by hawking bottled drinks just to provide for his four children. He said he earns about ₦5,000 daily and has no home of his own, so he squats with others to get by.
While appealing to Nigerians for help, he shared his hope of returning to his old trade of selling automobile parts.
Sharing the video on his page, an IG user, identified as Charismatic Oba said; “This thing called life is often filled with mysteries, it is even more scary that no one can fully determine what the outcome of a simple and straightforward decision can possibly be… Since I started this #streetinterview journey, I have come to appreciate people and their efforts more, some fought for as much as they could but still end up being where they don’t want to be. It is a sad world but #StayJiggly.”
