A recent video featuring Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has drawn significant attention from social media users across the country.

The revered monarch paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife during the Eid al-Adha (Ileya) festivities. The meeting, which focused on national development, was part of the Ooni’s engagement with key political figures.

However, what stirred widespread online conversation wasn’t the visit itself, but a moment captured as the Ooni was leaving. In the now-viral clip, Oba Ogunwusi is seen walking with the First Lady while his entourage followed closely. At one point, he directed his aides members of his traditional retinue, including the Ijala chanter to prostrate fully before Remi Tinubu.

When the monarch noticed they hadn’t bowed low enough, he sharply corrected them, instructing them to go even lower. His assertiveness in the moment caused a flurry of reactions online.

While some Nigerians viewed the king’s actions as excessive or inappropriate, others offered different interpretations, sparking debate across social media platforms.
