Controversy has erupted online after several prominent Nigerians attended the burial of the late business icon and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, in Medina.
Dantata, the uncle of the richest black man on earth, Dangote, was laid to rest yesterday, July 1st, 2025, at the oldest and holiest Islamic cemetery in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
Recall that Dantata, born in 1930 in Kano, passed away in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on June 29, 2024, at the age of 94.
According to Google reports 2025, Dantata reportedly has a net worth of $23,000,000,000 ($23billion) which is approximately N36, 938, 000,000,000 (N36.9trillion).
However, top Nigerian dignitaries, religious leaders, and members of the Nigerian community were present as Dantata was laid to rest at Al-Baqi Cemetery, the holiest burial ground in Medina. The Janazha prayer was held at the Prophet’s mosque after Asr (around 1:30 pm NG time).
Notable figures such as Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, and Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi joined thousands of mourners for the Janaza (funeral prayer) at the Holy Mosque.
Also in attendance were the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, along with several federal ministers and former governors.
