Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has reflected on the evolution of the industry, noting a major shift over the years.
In a recent interview, she explained that today’s Nollywood places more emphasis on appearance than genuine passion, unlike in the early days when she and her colleagues began their careers.
This is coming after Bimbo Akintola disclosed to all and sundry that she is 52 years old and, by extension, has no children.
According to her, back then actors were driven purely by hunger and passion, not money or glamour. She recalled how they would work long hours, even overnight, without caring about food or pay, just to bring stories to life.
Akintola mentioned that legends like Joke Silva and Shola Sobowale were also passionate about their craft, prioritising the art over comfort.
She added that things are different now, as many actors are more concerned about makeup, outfits, and looks, even going as far as doing BBLs.
