The Nigeria Police Force has responded to a viral video showing a Nigerian mother giving her baby girl alcohol to help her sleep at night.
In the video, the mother is seen holding a sachet of alcohol, which she opens and then feeds to her baby.
As she gave the newborn baby alcohol, she also drank some herself, repeating the act over and over.
Reacting via X, the police said it is aware of this distressing video and is investigating urgently. The force stressed that exposing a child to alcohol is illegal and dangerous.

We urge @ChuksEricE and any member of the public with valuable information that could lead to the swift apprehension of this “mother” to not hesitate to provide same. They can reach out to us on 09169967000. The child’s safety is our priority.”
