Nollywood actress, Regina Chukwu has spoken out about her husband’s passing.
She disclosed in an emotional interview with Biola Bayo that her spouse passed away while her last child was four months old. She disclosed that her spouse suffered from a fatal illness that consumed his finances and ultimately led to his death.
Chukwu described the suffering she endured with her sick husband, who was referred to as a “living corpse.”
According to her, her husband instructed her to ask his mother to give him a mercy death, which would be an injection that would cause his death. She disclosed that she had never been toasted before because to her stubbornness and that she was a virgin when she first met her spouse.
“My last child was four months old when their mother died. It’s a story that, anytime I try to explain, I cry.
The night that we did our traditional wedding, my husband confided in me, he said in Heaven and Earth, all the money he had hoke and abroad was eleven thousand naira.
That night, I cried because I felt like where were we going to start? I said it’s not about surviving that I am worried about the fact that it is the sickness that has eaten deep into his capital. And the sickness is still there.
Growing up was hell. Not hell, in the fact that my parents couldn’t provide for us. We didn’t have much, but at least we could eat our three-square meals. But I was stubborn. I was tough to the extent that I didn’t think I had somebody say he wanted to date me.
Nobody has ever toasted me, my husband was the one who broke my virginity.
Things were very hard for us; I couldn’t register for ante-natal. At some point, I couldn’t stand up again. After 41 days of welcoming my child, I returned to my business because my husband couldn’t go out again. He was already using the potty at home. My husband couldn’t eat anything without stooling immediately. Anybody who saw him will call him a living corpse. I was running around with a baby on my back. He told me to help him beg his mother to give him mercy death.
I took a break for some years, and I had to abandon acting for close to 8 years, but now I am back. “
