
Prince Khaled bin Talal has announced the death of his son, Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal, who spent nearly 20 years in a coma following a serious car accident in London in 2005.
Prince Khaled confirmed that funeral prayers will be held on Sunday at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, after the Asr prayer.
Popularly known as “The Sleeping Prince,” Prince Alwaleed slipped into a deep coma after the accident while studying in the UK.
Despite being under constant medical care for almost two decades, he never regained consciousness, except for brief moments of limited movement that gave his family small glimmers of hope.
Throughout this time, Prince Khaled steadfastly refused to withdraw life support, holding firm to his belief that only God decides between life and death.
Prince Alwaleed’s condition drew widespread sympathy across the Kingdom and beyond, with millions following his story for years.
His long medical battle came to an end with the announcement of his passing on Saturday, bringing to a close a chapter that moved countless hearts.
