Superstar Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has once again captured the attention of online users and by extension effortlessly showcased why he is loved beyond the music space.
A young Lagos State University graduate and popular X influencer, known as Baddy of Lagos, found himself in a desperate race against time, urgently seeking N18.3 million for spinal correction surgery in India. The stakes were high, and time was running out.
Then, something unexpected happened OBO entered the chat. Davido, known for his generosity, stepped in, shifting the narrative and offering a glimmer of hope just when it was needed most.
Baddy had been tirelessly crowdfunding online, hoping kind-hearted Nigerians would come through to save his spine and restore his health. With heartfelt posts and constant appeals flooding social media, he clung to hope, refusing to give up.
But nothing prepared him for what he described as “beyond imagination.” On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the influencer took to X to announce that Afrobeats star Davido had donated ₦3 million towards his surgery.
He tweeted; “Jesus @davido sent me 3m for my correctional surgery, God bless you sir… my idolo.”
Davido’s donation wasn’t just a generous gesture, it was the game-changer. His ₦3 million contribution became the final push that propelled the campaign to full success.
Obi-Dickson, the man spearheading the fundraiser, also confirmed the development in a separate tweet, expressing gratitude and acknowledging Davido’s timely intervention.
“Omo, I just saw OBO in my DM right now. @davido dropped N3m. We now have more than we need for the surgery. Thank you, Baddest!”
With the singer’s support, the fundraiser reportedly surpassed ₦22 million, enough to cover all medical, travel, and post-surgery expenses in full.
