A determined Nigerian lady, Lasisi Romoke Adunbarin, who once worked as a cleaner in 2021 to fund her education, has achieved remarkable academic success.

Although she initially aspired to study Computer Engineering, she later pursued Mathematics and graduated with a first-class degree from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).

During her studies, Adunbarin volunteered as a Data Analysis with Python tutor in her department and also served as a data science tutor at the Computer Science Academy Africa (CSA) Workshop, University of Nairobi—a fully funded trip.

Her journey stands as a powerful testament to resilience, dedication, and hard work.

In 2021, before taking up cleaning jobs, the mathematician also worked as a sales representative and a teacher.

Aside from working for someone as a cleaner, Adunbarin also offered sanitation services. In a conversation with Legit.ng in 2021, she said:

“When I’m called for weekend cleaning service, here is what I do; I wash plates, pots, clean the gas cookers, mob the floor, wash the tiles on the kitchen wall, then I moved to palour ; sweep, dust and mop. Rooms I sweep, fold clothes and mop after then I wash the toilet and bathroom and sometimes I wash clothes too. After all this I’ll be paid either 2k or N2500. The day I clean new apartment I was paid 10 thousand naira.”
